SubWaves debuts with the first in a series dedicated to bringing together the different voices of Amsterdam’s creative music scene. Each performance is a chance for musicians and audiences alike to explore the full spectrum of creative sound. SubWaves aims to create an ongoing space where artists can cross musical divides and audiences can connect deeply with. For this edition, we’re excited to feature:

Sanem Kalfa + Lucija Gregov

Sanem Kalfa and Lucija Gregov explore the entangled instrumentation of a cello duo. Rooted in free improvisation, the duo’s carefully balanced dynamics, fragments of melodies and nuanced harmonies remind of chamber music with determined tendency towards adventurous experimentation.

Raoul vd Weide + Hank Zwerver

The acoustic free improvising ‘Modeles Volatils’ strings duo of double bassist Raoul van der Weide and guitarist Henk Zwerver goes back to 2016 when they met and started to cooperate and play. 

Basically we deliver and interact with sounds resonating as far as possible from idiomatic domains, working in an atmosphere that could be described as an in-progress-pre-esthetics-without-plan approach.

Miguel Seoane trio

The Miguel Seoane Trio is a jazz group based in Amsterdam, formed in 2021. They thrive in live performances, where their music truly comes alive.

Led by Miguel Seoane’s crispy alto saxophone, the trio features Mauro Cottone on bass, adding depth, and Giacomo Camilletti on drums, whose lively and expressive style ties everything together. While jazz-trained, their music is inspired by a range of genres, from indie and alternative sounds to soft ballads. 

Lucifora Govaert Lumley

The trio improvises, navigating soundscapes and exploring a diverse musical universe. Their years of collaboration in different ensembles bring a deep understanding of each other’s musical instincts. Their sound shifts and changes, always fluid and alive.

Supercity

Supercity is back. This epic Amsterdam based band pulls you right to the middle of the dance

floor and keeps you there in bewilderment. Supercity is a statement in the Amsterdam music

scene, where is has been highly influential for quite some years. Formed in 2007 by Vincent

Pino & Yvo Sprey they’ve played all over the Amsterdam area, creating a buzz wherever they appeared.

Whilst you are magnetized on the dance floor, this six-person band takes you on a smokey,

edgy musical trip. Join the Supercity Express and venture trough a variety of styles such as

Cumbia and rich Folklore of Latin America; Funk, Soul and Blues further North and the trance

inducing rhythms of the African Continent. Supercity Band recorded two studio albums `Atico’

and `Souvenir’, both on Spotify. Having played and recorded for over a decade Supercity Band

continues to move you for the times to come.
